Mayor of Peciste wounded from hunter’s gun

The mayor of Peciste village of Rezina district was taken to the hospital in a serious condition after he was shot from a hunter’s gun by a villager last night. The announcement was made by Minister of the Interior Oleg Balan on March 11, IPN reports.

The minister told a news conference that hearing gunfire in the village, the mayor, accompanied by the chief of the local police post, went to see what was going on. There were two villagers there. When they were asked to provide explanations, one of the men fired at the mayor, wounding him in the head. The mayor was rushed to the district hospital.

The head of the General Police Inspectorate Ion Bodrug said the two men were arrested in the morning of March 11. The man who wounded the mayor is 35. He was earlier tried for domestic violence. He held the hunter’s gun illegally.

Contacted by IPN, vice director of the Rezina District Hospital Lilia Gordienco said the mayor is in the intensive care section in a serious condition. He was operated and doctors do their best to save him.
