The director of the Calarasi family doctors center was dismissed, while another eight directors were punished disciplinarily for insufficient work done to treat and prevent tuberculosis. An order to this effect was made by Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi, IPN reports.
Those punished disciplinarily include directors of district hospitals and family doctors centers from Straseni and Orhei. Also, there were warned the directors of district hospitals and family doctors centers from Causeni and Floresti.
The director general of the National Public Health Center Ion Bahnarel and other chief-doctors of this institution were reprimanded.
The order is based on a decision of the Board of the Ministry of Health, which says that the epidemiological situation of tuberculosis in the country remains tense. More than one third of the cases are cases of the most contagious forms of TB. 5.2% of the new cases recorded are in children.
The Board of the Ministry of Health decided that the district hospitals and health centers should review the risk groups, continue the treatment against tuberculosis and ensure the strictly supervised administration of medicines.
According to the Ministry, about 5,000 people suffering from TB are registered officially in Moldova.
