“The Europeans and the people wait for deeds not words,” the chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said after a meeting with the European Parliament Rapporteur for Moldova Petras Auštrevičius, who is in Chisinau on a visit. The Liberals’ leader noted that Moldova can go on and can come closer to the European family if it fulfills the commitments assumed by the Association Agreement with the EU, IPN reports.
“We, those who form part of the parliamentary alliance, must prepare a document, a timetable, where to indicate the made mistakes and to implement the overdue measures stipulated in the Association Agreement as soon as possible,” stated Mihai Ghimpu.
The politician said that he also discussed the reformation of the prosecution service with the Lithuanian MEP and noted that the Liberal Party is for a prosecution service that will meet the European standards. The necessity of fighting corruption, especially grand one, was another subject for discussion.
The interlocutors also underlined the importance of a new agreement with the IMF given that the relations with the EU, the financing and investments depend on this accord.
Within his three-day visit to Chisinau, Petras Auštrevičius had meetings with high-ranking officials and political leaders.
