A number of girls from socially deprived families were recruited to provide sexual services in Chisinau. According to the Chisinau Police Division, the minors were found in suburban settlements, were brought to the capital city and lodged in several rented apartments, being supervised by a person, IPN reports.
The police arrested the alleged procurers – a man aged 40, who was earlier tried, his female partner of 28, and a 29-year-old woman who played the role of intermediary. The suspects are from Calarasi and Hancesti districts and had supposedly sexually exploited the girls during two years.
The police have so far identified eight victims aged 16 and 17. The clients paid by 700 lei for an hour in the girls’ company.
The suspects are investigated under arrest for trafficking in children and face 15 to 20 years behind bars or life imprisonment.
