Moldova - Belarus ends in stalemate

Moldova and Belarus produced a goalless draw in their first game of 2012, Info-Prim Neo reports. The game was played in Antalya, Turkey, where most of the players were in training camps with their clubs. Belarus was the more attacking side, but the Moldovans defended resolutely. After 5 years, midfielder Serghei Covalciuc returned to the national side, but failed to impress. The game also marked the beginning of Ion Caras’ second spell at the helm of the national team, after coaching it between 1990 and 1997. After the match, he told the press the result and some moments of the team’s play satisfied him. Moldova’s next matches are scheduled for May, when a training camp will be organized abroad. The adversary could be a team that qualified for the Euro 2012 tournament.
