Moldova, Turkey sign protocol on archival cooperation

Moldova and Turkey have signed an intergovernmental protocol on archival cooperation. The event took place on Saturday, May 12, during the first ever visit to the Republic of Moldova of a Turkish Foreign Affairs Minister, Info-Prim Neo reports. Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs Iurie Leanca noted that the visit of the Turkish official comes 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Turkey. He said that during the meeting they discussed issues of common interest regarding the development of bilateral cooperation, both economic and political, attraction of Turkish investment into Moldova, regional and sectoral cooperation and other issues. Iurie Leanca noted that an important moment and a step forward in the bilateral relations was the signing of the agreement canceling the visa regime between Moldova and Turkey. The official said that the document would be signed in the near future, perhaps even in the second half of the year. Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu said that canceling the visa regime would bring not only economic and commercial benefits, but would also strengthen the friendship between the two nations. He added that Turkey regarded Moldova as a valuable political partner in this region. The Turkish delegation will also visit the Gagauz Autonomy.
