Moldovagaz said that it took note of the National Agency for Energy Regulation’s decision regarding the certification of the transmission system operator for gas Vestmoldtransgaz. The Agency set a new deadline, namely July 31, 2025, for the separation of the transmission networks owned by Moldovagaz, although the initial deadline was September 30, 2026, IPN reports.
According to Moldovagaz, the shareholders will be informed about the new decision of the regulatory authority, in connection with the fulfillment of the legal requirements.
The company's further actions regarding gas transmission assets, including the completion of the certification process of the transmission system operator Moldovatransgaz, are to be approved by the majority shareholders of Moldovagaz, namely SAP Gazprom and the Public Property Agency.
Moldovagaz drew attention to the need to observe proportionality between the participants in the gas sector, and not with separate companies, as well as to the possible violation of the principles of transparency and predictability in the field of regulatory norms.
Thus, Moldovagaz proposed setting a deadline for the implementation of the separation procedure, namely April 1, 2026, which would enable to coordinate the implementation of the necessary Action Plan and the respective decisions of the company's management bodies, including its shareholders, and to also complete all the necessary transactions.
According to the NAER, however, if this separation does not take place by July 31 this year, the company risks losing its gas supply license.
