Thirty doctors of district hospitals will go to Romania and Turkey to attend two-month training courses on knee and hip endoprosthezing. The costs will be covered by the governments of the two states, while the national medical institutions that delegated doctors to do the training will cover the travel expenses, IPN reports.

Each doctor will be involved in training abroad for a month and will then return home for a month to put into practice the gained knowledge. Afterward, the doctors will go abroad for the second one-month training course.

Minister of Health Ruxanda Glavan told a news conference that these doctors during August-December are to perform 450 such operations in district hospitals. The total number of operations in 2017 will thus be higher than in 2016. “About 1,700 operations have been planned for this year. The goal is to make sure than 1,500 operations on average are performed in eight district hospitals in 2018, while another 1,500 operations wil be conducted in Chisinau so that we reach about 3,000 operations a year,” stated the minister.

It is planned that the waiting time for new patients included in the list would not exceed 60 days.

A contract was signed with each of the 30 doctors who will attend training courses. By this, the doctors pledge to rerun home and to work at the medical institutions that delegated them.

The doctors were chosen from among the personnel of district hospitals that have orthopedics or traumatology sections.
