Moldovan politicians are called to leave the barricades and cooperate for the benefit of the people. The call comes from the action “Independence on bikes”, initiated by the Club of Amateur Cyclists and supported by the Democracy Home Party and the Green Ecologist Party, Info-Prim Neo reports.
During the action, many people traveled on their bikes on the route Chisinau-Cimislia-Comrat-Hancesti-Chisinau. Ion Matei, general secretary of the Community Party “Democracy Home” declared that his party joined the action because one of the values promotes by the party was a healthy lifestyle. “We proved that politicians can work even in summer. We propose the change of the political class, because it should promote the youth. We also proved that two parties can collaborate and promote a new policy”, declared Ion Matei during a press conference.
Leader of the Green Ecologist Party Anatolie Prohnitchi said that it’s the first time when a group of amateur cyclists decided to go through several localities and congratulated people on the occasion of the Independence Day.
Vasile Fotescu, head of the Club of Amateur Cyclists, said that he had the idea for a long time and posted the information on the Internet, which led to the two parties offering their participation. “We didn’t expect anyone from the political class to participate. We didn’t ask anyone to do it”, said Vasile Fotescu. According to the head of the Club of Amateur Cyclists, the bikers where welcomed in the visited localities and more similar actions would be organized in the near future because all the people in the country should celebrate the national holidays, not only those in Chisinau.
Liviu Bezu, one of the participants, admitted that the ride was hard because of the unbearable heat, but stressed that the youth managed to prove that a holiday can be celebrated differently, not by drinking.
The organizers and participants in the actions declared that the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health provided the necessary supports. The cyclists were accompanies by police officers and an ambulance during their 200 km ride.
The action “Independence on bikes” took place on August 26 and 27, when the bikers bearing the national colors visited several localities in the country.
