The prospects of intensifying cooperation in the areas of economy, culture and Moldova's European integration have been discussed at a meeting between Moldova's President Nicolae Timofti and Romania's Ambassador to Chisinau Marius Lazurca, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a press release from the President's Office, Nicolae Timofti stated during the meeting that Moldova and Romania are two countries that should discuss plans which can be implemented, in particular, as partners in the process of Moldova's integration in the European community. The Moldovan President transmitted on this occasion his gratitude to the Romanian President for all the support offered to Moldova. He stated that one of the forms of a practical and effective partnership is to cooperate in the direction of harmonizing the Moldovan laws with the European ones, remarking how the already translated Romanian documents could save a lot of time and money. Ambassador Marius Lazurca expressed his willingness to establish a political dialogue with the Moldovan Presidential Office, a dialogue that could improve and enhance the relationship already established with other Moldovan institutions. “We believe that there is strong popular support for European integration and we believe that the governing political elite has the necessary electoral support to carry out this quite uneasy mandate that has a historic significance”, declared Marius Lazurca. The Ambassador thinks that Moldova is now in the best position to amplify the process of European integration, assuring that Romania is ready to lend a helping hand based on its recent experience. Marius Lazurca reconfirmed Romanian President Traian Basescu's invitation for Nicolae Timofti to visit Romania.
