On November 16, Moldova will be removed from the list of countries whose citizens, when entering Ukraine, must confirm that they have money to support themselves while staying on the territory of this country, co-chairman on behalf of Moldova of the Moldovan-Ukrainian parliamentary friendship group Simion Furdui announced after the group’s meeting, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The Moldovan-Ukrainian relations have been reanimated after a period of five years. We had a series of meetings with representatives of the Rada and discussed a number of problems. The Ukrainian Government intends to annul the decision obliging the Moldovans to prove that they have money to stay in Ukraine,” said Simion Furdui.
On May 6, 2009, the Government of Ukraine modified the entry, transit and exist regime for foreigners, obliging the persons coming from countries with a high risk of migration to confirm that they have money. The foreigners entering Ukraine were selectively asked to prove that they have a sufficient amount of money. But the Government did not specify the sum that those crossing the Ukrainian border had to have. They said that it was needed €1,200 or the equivalent of this sum.
The decision applied to 90 countries, including Moldova, but wasn’t used in relation to the Moldovan travelers.
