A number of Moldovans are investigated for asking and receiving US$1,500 to US$10,000 for helping citizens of Ukraine to illegally cross Moldova’s border. According to the Border Police, the illegal crossing of the border was organized for Ukrainian men aged between 20 and 30.
Given the martial law that is in place in Ukraine, the Ukrainian males aged between 18 and 60 cannot leave the country, IPN reports.
Four criminal cases were started in this case. Four of the suspects were remanded in custody. Four vehicles used to transport the foreign citizens were confiscated.
