The humanitarian activity of the Red Cross Society of Moldova will be supported with money from the state budget. A bill to this effect was passed by Parliament in the final reading. Thus, 1,000 Swiss Francs will be annually allocated from the state budget for paying Moldova’s dues to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, IPN reports.
According to Parliament, the new provision is in concordance with the international practice of cooperation of the state with Red Cross Societies at national level in helping pay the membership dues for financing the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The previous years, the Government also contributed to paying the membership dues from the state’s reserve fund even if the current Law on the Red Cross Society of Moldova didn’t oblige to pay these.
The Red Cross Society of Moldova is an organization affiliated to the humanitarian values that works in accordance with the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the Geneva Conventions to which Moldova is a party. Its goal is to support persons in emergencies and urgent cases.
