The stable population of Moldova decreased by 3,300 persons. As many as 3.56 million people were officially registered in Moldova on January 1, 2011, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the National Bureau of Statistics.
The ratio of women to men is 51.9:48.1%, i.e. the number of men is by 136,000 lower than of women. More than half of the population (58.4%) lives in rural areas.
66.7% of the population is able to work. 17.8% of the persons have not yet reached working age, while 15.5% are over it. The number of persons aged 60 and over for every 100 people is 14.4.
