Moldova U17s started the qualification campaign for the 2013 European Championship with a defeat. On Tuesday, September 25, the Tricolors were bested by Belarus 0-1 after conceding in the dying moments of the game.
In another game, the hosts of the qualification mini-tournament Serbia humbled Armenia 5-0. In the next game, on September 27, the pupils coached by Oleg Fistican will take on the Serbs, while Belarus will meet Armenia.
Meanwhile, Moldova U19s played yesterday, September 25, a friendly game against Turkey. Despite several chances and a one man advantage after Ahmet Calik was sent off in the first half, the Moldovans lost 1-2.
All the goals have been scored in the first half. Emre Nefiz and Burak Kardes netted for the guests, while Artur Apostolov pulled on back for Moldova.
Tomorrow, September 27, the boys coached by Danut Oprea will play the second game against the Turks.
The matches are part of the preparation schedule for the preliminaries of the 2013 European Championship, which will take place in Northern Ireland between October 10 and 15. Moldova will play in Group 4, alongside the hosts, Greece and the Czech Republic.
