Monument to famine victims to be erected in Mingir

The Government Wednesday decided that a monument in memory of the victims of the 1946-1947 famine will be built in Mingir village of Hancesti district, Info-Prim Neo reports. The initiative was put forward by the local council of Mingir, where more than 1,000 persons died of hunger in the period, by 50 persons a day according to statistical data. The costs of erecting the monument will be covered with the resources available in the village's budget and the money provided by donors. The Ministry of Culture will make sure that the monument has an adequate artistic value.
