Moratorium imposed on demolitions and configurations in historical center

The demolition of the historical buildings and modification of the urbanistic purpose and configuration of the parks and cemeteries in the historical center of Chisinau will be banned until the completion of the General Urbanistic Plan, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a Government Decision. According to Minister of Culture Boris Focsa, the construction of new facilities that can prejudice the urbanistic structure and image of the historical center of Chisinau by their location, size and style will be prohibited. The Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, together with the Ministry of Culture, during two months will work out regulations concerning the holding of the contest of architectural-urbanistic strategies to supplement the General Urbanistic Plan of Chisinau. Additional financial resources will be identified to safeguard the national cultural and historical patrimony.
