The three-month moratorium on inspections carried out at economic entities is welcome, said experts from Wednesday’s panel of the talk show “Fabrika” produced by Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Lawyer Roger Gladei welcomed Prime Minister Pavel Filip’s decision, but said that he is against the abolition of inspections for good. “The inspections have their own goal. They are aimed at making the economic entities more disciplined and should not constrain. They must have an educative role, not a repressive one. However, this moratorium is like a jolt. Despite the moratorium, measures should be taken to prevent tax evasion and smuggling,” he stated.

Sergiu Ostaf, executive director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO), considers the legislation on inspections should be reviewed in the period. “The inspections are not bad, but the regulations governing inspections should be thought up again. The conclusion could be that the 15 types of state inspections performed at companies should be reduced to seven,” he stated.

Alexandru Cauia, dean of the Faculty of Law of the Moldova Free International University, said the dismissal of the chiefs of the Stat Main Tax Inspectorate, the Customs Service and the Economic Police can lead to changes in the system. “It’s known that the replacement of managers does not completely change the system. However, some changes can be brought about. The dismissal of the chiefs will be like a shockwave that will make the functionaries become more responsible,” he said.
