Acting President Marian Lup Saturday handed over state awards to more than 100 personalities from such fields as economy, agriculture, culture, sport and the armed forces, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“These people are the elite of our society. They serve as an example for us and our followers. These awards are given in gratitude for the work they did together and separately,” Marian Lupu said in the award ceremony.
Academician Gheorghe Duca, president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, received the Order of the Republic. “This distinction is the result of the efforts made by many persons. I’m grateful to everyone and I promise to work further to achieve even better results,” he stated.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov was awarded the Labor Glory order. He said that this order recognizes the efforts and work of all the farmers he represents. He pledged to promote the Moldovan products on the European market and to make effort to modernize the agricultural markets in Moldova.
Presenter Andrei Porubin was conferred the honorific title of People’s Artist. “A friend of mine said there are now more people’s artists than citizens. Anyway this award, as any other award, represents the recognition of the work done. It doesn’t make you healthier or richer, but it offers you satisfaction because your professional successes are appreciated,” he stated.
Awards were also given to emeritus coaches of different sports schools, rescuers, economists, district heads and company managers.
