The MP of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists Diana Caraman received two warnings from the Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu. The first warning was issued because he called the Constitution a "booklet", and the second – for "impertinence", IPN reports.
It happened after the parliamentarian came the central rostrum to give a speech and accused the government of the dirtiest electoral campaign in the country's history, urging the PAS MPs to take home and keep these “knizhki” ("booklets") on the shelf. The MP referred to the new edition of the Constitution, which was distributed to the MPs at the beginning of the sitting.
"Mrs. MP, for the disrespectful word with regard to the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, I give you a public warning. It is the Constitution, not "knizhka", Igor Grosu said after Diana Caraman finished her speech. As the MP continued to reply, the Speaker gave her a second warning.
MPs who violate the Parliament's Rules of Procedure during sittings can be penalized with a warning, a call to order, refusal to give the floor or even ban on giving speeches during up to five sittings. They can also be removed from the assembly hall or banned from attending sittings.
