The municipal commission for emergencies on Thursday adopted a decision concerning the measures that will be taken immediately to prevent incidents similar to the October 14 explosion, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The measures include the provision of medical and psychological assistance to the victims and witnesses to the explosion, inspection of the economic entities that sell firearms and munitions, monitoring of the markets and other crowded places.
At the meeting, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the taken measures should be analyzed so as to ensure public order during public festivities and formulate proposals for stepping up security. He instructed the investigation bodies to seek information about arms depots from the Ministry of Defense.
Chirtoaca does not rule out that the grenade that was blown up on Wednesday and the one brought to the stairs of the Prosecutor General's Office had been stolen from an arms depot. According to him, the appearance of two grenades in Chisinau at a small interval of time is rather strange. “We know that there are munition depots in Transnistria, but we cannot make speculations,” he said.
The adopted measures will be implemented by the Health Division, the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, the General Finance Division, the Municipal Psychological Rehabilitation Center “Armonia”, the Security and Information Service, the investigation bodies, the police stations, etc.
The representatives of these institutions will have to present reports on the measures taken to the commission for emergencies every day until October 19, and then they will render weekly reports.
