A soldier of the National Army injured himself from the gun entrusted to him while doing guard duty last night, at about 1.45, IPN has learned from the Ministry of Defense.
The military man was rushed to the Emergency Hospital, where he underwent surgery. His state remains critical.
The soldier was drafted into the army on a contract basis last March. From last June, he has done his military service at the Independent Peacekeeping Forces Battalion No. 3 located in Cosnita, Dubsari.
The Military Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the case. A special commission of the National Army is holding an internal inquiry into this incident.
