A National Center for the Protection of Personal Data was set up in Moldova. The center is an autonomous institution that aims to ensure the observance of the peopleʼs right to private life, Info-Prim Neo reports. The center was founded following the adjustment of the national legislation to the European standards, the institution says in a communique. The centerʼs employees will monitor how the legislation on the protection of information is observed and implemented, especially the right to information, access, rectification, contesting or exclusion of data. The personal data holders will be asked to specify, block or destroy the incorrect or illegally obtained data. The center will lodge applications with the court to defend the rights of the subjects of the personal data and will represent them in court.
