The national library is preparing a virtual museum for keeping all of the old documents that the institution possesses. Svetlana Barbei, head of the library’s management center, has said that a group of 4 persons are arduously working to finish the project as soon as possible, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Our goal is to gather all the documents and photos together so that every person is able to access them anywhere and that are preserved for the future. At the same time, this museum will represent the library’s evolution along the years, the institution’s staff”, said Bsvetlana arbei at the Librarianship Club on Monday.
Svetlana Barbei also said that she dreams of a virtual tour of the museum using 3D technologies. “Recollecting doesn’t only mean care for the past, but also for the future so that future generations know history”.
The National Library’s employees, starting with those from the 1950s until today, have attended the Librarianship Club’s meeting. The retired librarians have nostalgically recalled the times past. They say that then, they were fighting for every reader: it was important that he was looked in the eye convinced to study at the library. They remarked that it was harder to work back then, without modern technology, but regret that now they see fewer and fewer readers when they visit the library.
The first Librarianship Club meeting was held 10 years ago. It comprises several conferences and meetings, contests and tours of the library. The goal is to familiarize young librarians with the work that lies ahead, but also experience exchange and getting to know each other.
