Over 10,000 applications have been submitted to the 67 secondary vocational education institutions in the country after the first round of admission, which ended on August 15. For the remaining 2757 positions, including 2525 funded from the public budget, a contest will be organized between August 15 and 25, IPN learned from a press release of the Ministry of Education.
In the first round, most students applied for the following trades: cook, car electrician, constructions electrician-locksmith, electrician-assembler of lighting networks, hotel receptionist, tourism group attendant, and controller-cashier.
The 2014 admission plan for professional secondary schools provides 11,564 places, including 10,844 with funded tuition and 720 with tuition fees including 225 positions in private schools).
Most of the funded positions in professional and vocational schools were awarded to middle school graduates - 9539 seats (or 88% of the total). Meanwhile, 1305 places (or 12% of the total) have been allotted for high school and general secondary school graduates.
Students who have not enrolled for the baccalaureate exam or those who have not passed the baccalaureate exams have the opportunity to continue their education in vocational schools. They can apply for admission with the secondary school certificate of completion and a certificate issued by the educational institution where they have studied, which confirms the achievement of high school curriculum.
