The agreement on the formation of a parliamentary coalition between the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party can be signed today, July 21. Also today, the group of experts are expected to hold a meeting in extended format to finalize the ruling program of the future Government. Such statements were made after the discussions held by the group of experts in the evening of July 20, IPN reports.
Liberal MP Valeriu Munteanu said the working group is to hold discussions in an extended format, with the participation of other colleagues. The Liberal Party hasn’t yet decided what ministries it will manage. In the area of the reform of the law enforcement bodies, the members of the ruling alliance will make effort to improve the bill on the reformation of the prosecution service. The Liberals want the mission of foreign experts that will supervise the justice system to come to Moldova before this bill is passed in the final reading. It was also agreed to increase the parliamentary control capacities so as to prevent particular excesses.
Liberal-Democratic lawmaker Valeriu Strelet said the group of experts is considering a reform of the independent entities that didn’t prove their efficiency so as to avoid frauds in the future. The opinion of the EU mission of experts on the justice sector reform will be decisive.
Democratic MP Sergiu Sarbu said they agreed that the reform of the law enforcement bodies will be done in cooperation with the foreign partners. “We must thoroughly analyze all the steps so as not to make mistakes,” he stated.
The negotiations on the formation of a parliamentary coalition were launched at the beginning of this month. The three parties haven’t yet announced how they distributed the state posts, but said that a referendum to reduce the number of votes by which the head of state can be elected in Parliament will be held so as to avoid a political stalemate next year.
