New employment opportunities for Moldovan young women

About 250 vulnerable young women from Floresti district will be offered jobs. A workplace generation project will offer the women from the district’s villages the possibility of developing as persons, of receiving professional training and workplaces in the ready-made clothing industry in a bid to reduce the trafficking risks. The project will be officially launched on March 26. It is implemented by the Catholic Relief Services in partnership with the Center of Young Entrepreneurs STEAUA and representatives of public and private sectors from Floresti district, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the deputy chairman of the Floresti District Council Procopii Sura, the young women will be provided with decent jobs near the place of residence. From November 2007, the project trained and supported the development and personal transformation of over 80 women from Floresti district. The project continues to offer assistance to the women aged between 18 and 30 that look for an alternative to going abroad, want to find a job and create a sustainable social welfare in Moldova. The initiative is implemented with the financial support of the US Department of Labor, the Austrian Development Cooperation and the significant contribution of the community. The decision makers from the region contributed 70% of the projects’ operational costs.
