The suitable candidate for the post of governor of the National Bank of Moldova will be identified soon so that this is appointed by the end of next week given that the current governor will hold office until November 30, Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu was quoted by IPN as saying.
“Next week I will be making every effort, including in the discussions with the colleagues from the Parliament and Government and with international organizations with which we cooperate, so as to identify the candidate and to pass to the legal procedure for appointing the governor,” the Speaker stated for the press, noting the standards and the professionalism and integrity levels are very high for this post.
Andrian Candu also said that a lot was rumored in the public sphere about the reasons for Sergiu Cioclea’s resignation, but the reasons are strictly personal in character and the governor fully carried out the tasks he undertook when he took up the post.
As to the statement that Sergiu Cioclea is being prepared for another post that he made in Parliament, Andrian Candu said it was a joke, but given the governor’s professionalism, this could hold any post.
Earlier this week, Sergiu Cioclea announced his resignation as governor of the National Bank of Moldova from November 30 this year. He said his decision is based on personal reasons. On November 23, Parliament accepted the resignation.
