A new tender for the construction of large renewable parks with energy storage batteries will be launched this fall. According to the timetable, presented by Energy Ministry State Secretary Carolina Novac, the tender is to be launched in October this year and bids can be submitted until March 2026, IPN reports.
According to a statement from the Energy Ministry, in order to determine the capacities of the new parks, analyses and modeling of the power system are to be carried out.
"The integration of energy storage systems (BESS) into the power system will reduce import dependence, avoid economic losses and prevent negative prices," Carolina Novac said.
On March 31, the submission of bids for the first tender for the construction of large wind and photovoltaic parks with a total capacity of 165 MW was closed.
The winners of the tenders are to be designated by Government decision by the fall, with estimated investments of up to €200 million.
In the last four years, the capacity of renewable energy power plants has increased eightfold, with more than 646 MW in February.
