Nomenclature of specialties in higher education approved

The updated nomenclature of professional training areas and specialties in higher education was approved by the Cabinet. This contains two new fundamental areas of science, culture and technology, namely Business, administration and law and Information and communication, IPN reports.

Among the new elements of the document are also nine general areas of study: Philology; Business and administration; Chemical sciences; Biological sciences; Environmental sciences; Physical sciences; Math and statistics; Information and communication technology, and Silviculture.

The nomenclature contains 12 new areas of professional training: Biochemistry; Vegetal and animal production; Database and information network protection and management; Development and analysis of program products and software applications; Mining and extractions; Medical assistance and midwifery, etc.

Among the new specialties included in the nomenclatures are:  Romanian language and literature; Criminology and penal sciences, Software engineering; Telecommunications software and network; Product design; General medical assistance; Physiokinetotherapy and recovery, Optometry.

The programs of study that were accredited and approved provisionally before this nomenclature took effect preserve the rights deriving from accreditation. The students admitted to studies based on the old nomenclature will complete their studies in accordance with the provisions of this.

In general, the new document includes ten fundamental areas of science, culture and technology, 26 general areas of study, 71 areas of professional training and 187 specialties of the bachelor’s degree level.
