Olympic Race to be held May 20

The National Olympic Committee (CNO) will organize on May 20 the traditional running race dedicated to the World Olympic Day. The 4km run will gather professional sportsmen, officials, diplomats, the country’s leaders and simple amateurs, Info-Prim Neo reports. “This race has become a tradition for the Olympic movement and its goal is to mobilize all those who have a healthy lifestyle. We hope this event will have a positive impact on society”, declared CNO chairman Nicolae Juravschi during a press conference on Thursday, May 17. According to organizers, this year’s race will be a chance to raise the people’s awareness about the Olympic Games and to promote the image of the national Olympic team before the Games in London, which begin on July 27. The Olympic Race will start in National Opera and Ballet Square and will follow the route: Stefan cel Mare Avenue - Vasile Alecsandri Street - Bucuresti Street - Sfatul Tarii Street. The start is scheduled for 11 AM.
