More than 100 servicemen were provided with budget lodging. These are military men working on contract at the Chisinau garrison of the National Army. The keys to the apartments were handed over to them by Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru on February 19, IPN reports.
The minister said that this is the first project to provide servicemen of the National Army with budget lodging. “By offering apartments to our military men, we create decent living conditions for the officers and sub-officers of the army so that these continue to work in the National Army and to not go abroad to look for a job. This way we will increase the quality and attractiveness of the contract-based military service,” stated Anatol Salaru.
According to the director of the Ministry of Defense’s Facilities Department Sergiu Voinu, the apartment building started to be erected in 2014 and was put into commission at the start of this year. The block has one-, two- and three-room apartments with an area of 33 m2 to 75 m2. “Each apartment has boiler, meters, sanitary facilities, stove and furniture,” he stated.
Under the legislation, budget lodging is provided to servicemen working on contract, civilian employees and members of their families.
