Over 130 people violated migration rules over past week

Over the past week, the Border Police arrested 139 people who violated Moldova's migration rules. Most of them, 44 people, were aliens who overstayed their visas, IPN reports.

According to the Border Police, 11 people were arrested when trying to unlawfully cross the border. Over 30 people were arrested for violating the border zone regime and rules at crossing points, 9 people for producing fake documents, and 8 people for contraband. 34 other cases involved people in conflict with the law.

The number of people who crossed the border in the period from December 1 to 7 was about 242,000 and the number of vehicles stood at around 58,000.

In the same period, the Border Police fined 11 Moldovans for fishing or hunting in border areas, seizing two hunting firearms, a boat, an electric fishing rod, 200 meters of fishnet and 15 kg of fish.

In 11 months of this year, the Border Police recorded 584 cases of border violations that involved 1028 offenders, which is an increase from 515 cases and 890 offenders in the same period last year.
