More than 268 million lei will be transferred to the treasury account of the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) in the case in which Veaceslav Platon is accused of money laundering. The Buiucani Court of Chisinau accepted such a request made by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, IPN reports.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office noted that the sum of over 268 million lei results from the transaction to sell and purchase 63.89% of the shares in “Moldindconbank” SA, which is kept in the bank account of the same commercial bank.

Earlier, prosecutors sequestrated this money following a decision taken by the Ciocana Court of Chisinau in a move to help recover the damage caused to BC “Banca de Economii” SA.

“The money needs to be transferred in the custody of the state in order to ensure it is kept in safe conditions, is managed efficiently, its value is conserved and additional management costs are avoided given that this mechanism increases the capacity to effectively recover criminal assets,” said the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.

In the same criminal case, the court rejected Ilan Shor’s requests to recognize him as an injured party.
