556 companies across the country have received compensation totaling 24.5 million lei for the payment of electricity bills for January, February and part of March this year. The money was transferred by the Moldovan government under a program financed from the energy package offered by the European Union, IPN reports.
"From the energy package provided by the European Union, compensation will continue to be offered throughout the year, which means lower bills, more stable businesses and protected jobs," Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
The program was launched in January and was later adjusted to allow access to as many companies as possible. Changes include extending the application period from 10 to 30 days after the invoice is issued.
At the same time, the government announces that another 663 companies have obtained preferential loans through the 373 program, totaling 2.73 billion lei.
