Parliament accepts Ludmila Lupashko’s resignation from post of CEC member

Parliament took note of the resignation tendered by Ludmila Lupashko from the post of member of the Central Election Commission (CEC). A draft decision to this effect was adopted on Thursday, IPN reports.

Ludmila Lupashko asked to accept her resignation as from February 12, 2024, invoking the decision to settle abroad. She was appointed to the CEC by Parliament, at the proposal of PAS, in September 2021.

The Central Electoral Commission is a collegial body consisting of seven members. Four of them are appointed by Parliament and by one member is named by the President of the country, the Superior Council of Magistracy and the Government, at the proposal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In case of early termination of a member’s tenure, the appointing authority shall name a new member of the Central Electoral Commission.
