A young man, 19, was killed after a car crashed overturning near Oclanda village in Soroca, yesterday at around 9:00pm.
Patrolling Inspectorate spokesperson Diana Fetco told IPN the 22-year-old driver of the car was found to have been drinking, having an alcohol concentration of 0.88 mg/l in the expired air. He suffered only minor injuries. His brother, 26, was admitted to the Soroca district hospital for head and other injuries. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the driver on charges of DUI and manslaughter.
Also last night, a car with Bulgarian plates driven by a 22-year-old man struck another car in Peresecina, Criuleni. The fled the scene but shortly after lost control over the vehicle and overturned the car, suffering injuries that required hospitalization. The police found the man didn't have a driving license. He will be fined 1,000 lei for this and will spend 15 days in prison for leaving the scene of the accident. The other driver, 34, escaped with bruises.
