The experience and expertise of the diaspora are valuable and useful to Moldova in advancing on the path of reforms, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in Tel-Aviv, where he had a meeting with representatives of the Moldovan diaspora and the community of Jews native of Moldova on November 10, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, Pavel Filip spoke about the discussions he had with the authorities of Israel on the signing of an agreement on the social protection of Moldovan migrants who work in this country. Thus, the years worked in Israel would be taken into account when calculating the pension.

The Premier called on the representatives of the diaspora to become involved in the process of modernizing the Republic of Moldova, reminding that excellence groups of the diaspora were created through which the Moldovans abroad can take part in working out public policy proposals and projects that are to be implemented in the county. Pavel Filip said the mechanism for involving the diaspora in the good organization of state administration will be extended.

The representative of the diaspora spoke about the faced challenges, such as the problem of collecting money for the done work, the possibility of being legally employed without involving intermediary firms and the provision of low-cost flights between the Republic of Moldova and Israel. Pavel Filip said these problems are known and the Government is making effort to solve them.

According to statistical data, about 25,000 Moldovan citizens live in Israel at present. Most of them work in the building sector and elderly home care services.
