The Communist Party (PCRM) will implement a new method of compiling the list of candidates for this autumn’s legislative elections, based on rating. Every district committee will field by a candidate whose accomplishments within the party will be assessed. In a news conference, the leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin said he is convinced that his party will win not less than 61 seats in the future legislature, IPN reports.
Vladimir Voronin stated that the efforts made to develop the local bodies of the party will be the main indicator that will be taken into account when compiling the election list. A primary party organization must be created under every local electoral bureau, which would ensure a representation of 1 member of the PCRM per 100 voters so as to be able to work with the people at their place of residence.
“The primary party organizations should include young and, more important, active members. The results in the 2010 parliamentary elections, in the local elections will be taken account of when compiling the list of candidates. The districts where more people voted for the PCRM will get more seats in the next Parliament and places on the party’s list,” said Vladimir Voronin, adding that the final list will be agreed in the October 1 meeting of the Central Committee. He assured that the list will include only party members.
Asked by the journalists about the possibility of forming an alliance with Iurie Rosca or Mihai Ghimpu, the Communist leader said he wants more Iurie Rosca to enter the future Parliament rather than Mihai Ghimpu and those from the Liberal Reformist Party. “Why do we need coalitions? There are only scandals inside them. We intend to gain a majority of votes in the coming elections and a result of less than 50% will mean defeat for us,” he stated.
In the same connection, Vladimir Voronin said the PCRM is preparing for the election campaign of this autumn more seriously than ever.
