Persons with contagious form of TB will be hospitalized by force

The people suffering from a contagious form of tuberculosis will be hospitalized by force, based on a court decision and only after other less restrictive measures are taken, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting amendments to the regulations on the application of anti-tuberculosis treatment, approved by the Government. Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi said that 30% of the persons with tuberculosis abandon treatment. Many of them suffer from alcoholism and do not realize what danger they pose to those around. “These persons must be hospitalized by force. We should make them understand that the patient has not only rights, but also responsibilities,” he stated. The persons suffering from tuberculosis will be treated in ordinary sections of medical institutions. The treatment is free of charge.
