The Ministry of Health informed that 93 more cases of pandemic flu have been recorded since November 7, 16.00, until November 8 in the evening, Info-Prim Neo reports. An infected woman from Ceadar-Lunga and young man from Calarasi are now in a critical condition. On Saturday and Sunday, the Ministry of Health’s Coordination Committee held meetings involving managers of national and Chisinau medical and sanitary institutions and representatives of the Chisinau Health Division. The participants examined the epidemiological situation as regards the acute viral infections and pandemic flu and decided to take additional preventive measures. The number of healthcare institutions that will provide medical assistance to the population of Chisinau municipality, where there was recorded the highest number of pandemic flu cases, was extended. The easy forms of the disease will be treated at home under the supervision of the family doctor. Flu medications will be distributed to family doctors who will administer them to the patients treated at home. Currently, the public medical and sanitary institutions work under a quarantine regime. The persons infected with pandemic flu have been admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorba”, the Municipal Hospital No. 4, the Children’s Hospital No.1 and the Ministry of Health’s Hopsital. The hospitals are already full though the number of beds was increased. Therefore, the Railway Hospital will be freed and the new patients will be taken there. A batch of 200,000 capsules of Tamiflu purchased by the Government of Moldova will be brought into Moldova towards the middle of the week. All the persons suffering from pandemic flu will be treated free of charge. The first lots of vaccines against pandemic flu are expected to come early in December. A number of 301 cases of pandemic influenza have been confirmed in Moldova so far. Three men aged 35, 46 and 50 respectively have died.
