PLDM wins most mayor's posts

As a result of the recent general local elections, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) has won the greatest number of mayoral seats, and the Communists Party (PCRM) has won the most local councilman's posts, as show the results announced by the Central Election Commission. After the two rounds of mayoral elections, on June 5 and 19, PLDM has 286 mayors; followed by the Democratic Party, with 220 mayors; and the PCRM, with 203 mayors. The Liberal Party (PL) has mayors in 97 communities. Extra-parliamentary parties, including the 'Green Alliance' Party, the Social Democratic Party, the 'For Country and Nation' Party, the Socialists Party and the 'Third Force' Electoral Bloc, each have one to two mayors. At the same time, PCRM is the leader in terms of councilors elected on party lists: the Communists have 434 district/municipal councilors and 3,440 town/village councilors. They are followed by the Liberal-Democrats, with 301 district/municipal councilors and 3,040 town/village councilors. PDM has 226 district/municipal councilors and 2263 town/village councilors; and PL 129 and 1,162, respectively. Overall, the recent local elections produced 10,630 town/village councilors, 1,120 district/municipal councilors and 897 mayors.
