Police compiled 66 reports over non-cleaning of sidewalks

Since the start of the cold season, the police in Chisinau drew up 66 reports against private individuals and legal entities that didn’t clear the sidewalks and adjoining areas of snow. The information was presented in the January 14 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca expressed his dissatisfaction with the low number of penalized persons. “Everyone should have been fined until now as we will never have clean sidewalks if nothing is done, even if the snowplows work without interruption,” he stated. Municipal police chief SilviuMusuc said that 11 reports were compiled against legal entities, while 55 against private individuals. Health Division headLuminitaSuveica said that 480 persons needed medical care after slipping on ice this winter. DorinChirtoaca asked that the persons who suffered injuries should receive financial support from the municipality. According to the General Public Amenities Division, 80% of the sidewalks in Chisinau are managed by economic entities.
