The police arrested a 37-year-old man who is suspected of killing the woman found dead near the Byk River. He is from Stefanesti village of Floresti district and was earlier tried for housebreaking, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the General Police Inspectorate, the man described in detail how he committed the crime. He said he killed the woman with a kitchen knife because she insulted him. That evening, the victim went to spend the night in the suspect’s temporary home in Chisinau.
The man was put under arrest for 72 hours. He faces 15 to 20 years in jail or life imprisonment.
In the morning of July 20, a passerby discovered the body of a woman near the Byk River, on Tabacaria Veche St in Centru district. The woman had knife wounds on the body. Her identity was established later. She was aged 29 and was from Calarasi town.
