The police specified they acted in strict compliance with the law in the morning of August 28 when they forced the protesters to leave the area near the Monument to Ruler Stephan the Great. A press release posted on the website of the General Police Inspectorate stays the protesters were requested verbally and sonorously to temporally stop the protest, but these didn’t comply, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, at the request of the municipal authorities the police asked the persons who were near the Monument to Ruler Stephan the Great to stop the protest on a temporary basis based on an order made by the Chisinau City Hall on August 24, concerning the temporary limitation of public access to particular places on August 27. Thus, both the organizers and the participants were informed about the necessity of temporarily suspending the public demonstrations.

The police also said the participants were given time to leave the indicated area. As these didn’t comply, legal measures were taken to disperse them. The police acted proportionally so that the participants were temporarily relocated at the intersection of Bănulescu-Bodoni St and Ștefan cel Mare Blvd.
