An employee of the Cantemir Police Inspectorate was arrested on influence peddling charges. He is suspected of having asked for 5,000 lei from a person, who was trying to get a job at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, for a positive decision from a medical commission, IPN reports.
According to the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the suspect claimed that he has influence over members of the medical commission and that he could influence them to assess the person as "fit" following the medical examination.
Such a crime carries a penalty in the form of a fine of 10,000 to 15,000 lei or imprisonment of up to 6 years.
