Policeman gets five years for taking bribe

A police inspector of the Rascani district police commissariat was sentenced to five years in prison and fined 40,000 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, last summer the police officer asked for 5,000 lei from a person for not recording a car accident. He was also accused of taking bribe from a minor for not drawing up a report against him for driving a scooter without crash helmet and a driver’s license. The court put him on probation for three years. The sentenced can be appealed to a higher court, the Prosecutor General’s Office has said.
