A traffic police officer of the Nisporeni District Commissariat and a policeman of the Cantemir Police Commissariat refused to take bribe from persons who broke the law, the Ministry of the Interior has said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
On May 16, traffic police inspector of the Nisporeni District Commissariat Vasile Badarau started to draw up a report against a person whose documents for the vehicle were not in order. The driver decided he can avoid paying a fine and offered the policeman 200 lei. The officer refused to take the money, warning the culprit that his deed is punished by law. The driver threw the money, hoping to avoid punishment, but will nevertheless be held accountable for bribery.
The same day, a 24-year-old man tried to bribe a policeman of the Cantemir
Police Commissariat. The man, who is from Cucoara, Cahul, was caught driving under the influence. Police lieutenant Ruslan Arsenii immediately reported this fact to his superior, commissioner Grigore Pulisca who, in cooperation with employees of the Cahul Fraud Division and the Cantemir Prosecutor’s Office, organized the arrest of the man when he was transmitting 3,000 lei bribe.
The young man was earlier tried and was put on probation for three years. He will now stand trial for passive corruption.
A number of functionaries have been dismissed from posts over the last few weeks for taking bribe. Legal action was taken against them.
