The Polish Culture Days kicked off in Chisinau. On November 1-8, Moldovan and Polish actors will put on five plays at the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”. On the weekend, the Polish Film Days will take place at the Odeon Movie Theater, IPN reports.
The Police Theater Week is staged in Moldova for the first time. Three of the plays will be presented in Polish, with Romanian subtitles, by actors of the Dramatic Theater “Alexander Węgierka” of Bialystok. Another two plays, written by Polish dramatist Slawomir Mrozek, will be put on by Moldovan actors.
The plays will be shown at the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau. “Within this week’s event, we, the host theater, present two plays written by Polish dramatists. The Polish school deserves to be envied. They are not afraid to try something new,” the Theater’s director Petru Hadarca said in a press breakfast given by the Ambassador of Poland to Moldova Artur Michalski.
On November 6-11, the Odeon Movie Theater will screen six modern Polish films launched in 2014, during the Polish Film Festival “CinePOLSKA”. The films will be shown with Romanian subtitles, while entrance is free of charge. “These films are all about bravery, the struggle for welfare, for building a better life. This is the reason why the event is held under the title “Films about courage”. The most important thing is that they are all based on real events,” stated Artur Michalski.
The ambassador noted that the cultural events coincide with the Independence Day of Poland, which is marked on November 11. “It is happy coincidence. It is important to exchange cultural experience with the Moldovan people within our national holiday,” he said.
The Polish cultural events in Moldova are held in concert with the Polish Institute in Bucharest.
