The People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova (PPRM) demands that Minister of Education Maia Sandu should tender her designation of honor. In a communiqué, the party expresses is indignation at the way the 2013 Baccalaureate session was organized, IPN reports.
“The Government, especially the minster of education, showed again that they do not have solutions to the education-related problems, replacing them with outdated methods of constraining, intimidating and terrorizing students,” it is said in the communiqué.
According to the party, the Ministry of Education’s solution to install surveillance cameras in examination halls shows that they adopted an incorrect approach to dealing with a fundamental problem of the Moldovan school and to increasing students’ knowledge and capacities so that they are able to cope with challenges.
“It is inadmissible for the Government to treat our students like thieves and illiterates. They should first propose viable and modern teaching programs and implement projects that will motivate the students to learn and the teachers to obtain results. 80% of the graduates now go abroad to work. Why should we spend millions of lei on the education system?” asks the party.
The Ministry of Education spent 7 million lei on the video cameras set up in the Baccalaureate centers. The answers to the last Baccalaureate papers were published on the Internet.
